I am helping a lady with a Boyd family from County Antrim but she has snet his back to me "So my search for Stephenson (or Stinson) is whittled down perhaps to the Diocese of Down and Connor and Dromore, which I think is Catholic? " The Diocese of Down and Connor, I though was an Church of Ireland Church division. While I know that Dromore is a town about 24-26 kms to the SW of Belfast. So could "Diocese of Down and Connor and Dromore" mean that he was married in the Townof Dromore in the Diocese of Down and Connor? Stephenson Boyd is said to have married Margaret Dean in 1841 and we are tying to work out the location and church. The family by 1849 has moved to Cambuslang, Lanarkshire and the next generation in New Zealand seem to be listed as Presbyterian. So that make me think that they may have actually be Presbyterian in Ireland Thank you for your assistance Mike Boyd Brisbane
I have Stevenson from Donaghadee, Co Down (they also spelled the name Stinson in the family bible.) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Boyd" <mikejboyd@bigpond.com> To: <NIR-DOWN@rootsweb.com> Cc: "Victoria & Shawn Boyd" <theboydsnz@slingshot.co.nz> Sent: Thursday, December 13, 2007 7:06 AM Subject: [NIR-DOWN] Diocese of Down and Connor and Dromore >I am helping a lady with a Boyd family from County Antrim but she has snet > his back to me > > "So my search for Stephenson (or Stinson) is whittled down perhaps to the > Diocese of Down and Connor and Dromore, which I think is Catholic? There is a Protestant ( Church of Ireland) and a Roman Catholic Diocese of Down, Connor and Dromore. It is covered very succinctly at Wikipedia and other Google sites. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robt & Wendy Stevenson" <stevensons@odyssey.on.ca> To: <nir-down@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, December 13, 2007 3:21 PM Subject: Re: [NIR-DOWN] Diocese of Down and Connor and Dromore >I have Stevenson from Donaghadee, Co Down (they also spelled the name > Stinson in the family bible.) > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Mike Boyd" <mikejboyd@bigpond.com> > To: <NIR-DOWN@rootsweb.com> > Cc: "Victoria & Shawn Boyd" <theboydsnz@slingshot.co.nz> > Sent: Thursday, December 13, 2007 7:06 AM > Subject: [NIR-DOWN] Diocese of Down and Connor and Dromore > > >>I am helping a lady with a Boyd family from County Antrim but she has snet >> his back to me >> >> "So my search for Stephenson (or Stinson) is whittled down perhaps to the >> Diocese of Down and Connor and Dromore, which I think is Catholic?
