    2. His Mother was Martha Beattie b. 1824 d. 1905. Her mother was Margaret McCaw b. 1795, d.1874 buried at Balligann. Don't have beyond that Isabella In a message dated 11/20/2007 4:33:54 P.M. Pacific Standard Time, stevensons@odyssey.on.ca writes: Henry Stevenson McKeag, would suggest to me that his mother may have been Stevenson. They did that a lot in our family. And our John was from Donaghadee, so there is probably some connection somewhere. We had the name spelled Stevenson, Stephenson, and Stinson on the same page in the family bible. I'm only just getting back to this line, as I got sidetracked for a few years on other things. Don't recognise your other names, but....some day? Wendy Ray and Wendy, My grandfather, Henry , Stevenson or maybe Stephenson-? McKeag was born in Ballybuttle, Donaghadee, Co Down in 1859 to Thomas McKeag and Martha Beattie. He became a Linen Importer to the United States with offices in Belfast and NYC. There were a number of factual mistakes (i.e. even his parents names were wrong ) on his U.S. death certificate in and I've never been sure of the spelling. of Stevenson/Stephenson or where the name came from. He was one of 7 children and I've never found the name anywhere else in the McKeag background. Do you see a connection? Other names in the McKeag background were McCaw, McComb, Shaw, Gunning Thanks, Isabella - This is an awesome website to eavesdrop! In a message dated 11/20/2007 3:31:39 P.M. One family letter says that they lived in Castlereagh, Belfast. (Greater Belfast straddles Down and Antrim, although it is 'in' Co Antrim) Family moved from there to Ballymena area of Co Antrim, which is a relatively short distance by Canadian standards. Four sons of John: Robert, William Clatworthy, Philip and John all emigrated to Canada. I have all of ours and most of the other descendents. We married into Bell families in Canada, but can't recall doing so in Ireland. Family names were Sloan, Clark(e), Russell. Occupations were tailor, haberdasher, farmer. Nothing to rave about in my opinion (sorry to those who have found it helpful), but I think I already had most of their offerings, which I had found in other free resources. Three people I had born in Newry and they had recorded Tandragee in addition, so 3 records have been improved. One of their records had Great Grandmother as Amry, a simple typo, so was able to send an amendment to them. She was Mary Jane BELL married to James KERLIN. If anyone would like lookups, I would be pleased to help - still have 29 days to go <vbg>. Remember please, Y-IRL folk, it is only for ULSTER. http://www.emeraldancestors.com/ - for an initial looksee!
