    3. I would appreciate the opportunity of taking advantage of your kind offer. I am trying to sort out the marriage of Charles McKeown and Elizabeth Fowler. According to their marriage certificate that I have, Charles' parents were John McEwan and Charlotte Frame; Eliza's parents were James Fowler and Agnes Ferris. Date of marriage: 15 June 1857, Ballyesborough. The following information that a kind lister sent to me would fit in with the forementioned as my grandfather was 'William' who was born in Greyabbey - "Charles McKeown who married Eliz Fowler and believe it said he was originally from Co, Tyrone but son William born in Greyabbey". I received an e-mail with the following informatlion - There is also a registration for the marriage of Charles and Elizabeth Fowler of 4 January 1858 - Index 33 04/01/1858 the marriage of Chas.I. McKeon age 19 years of Ballygarvan a farm servant, Father Hugh McKeon, Labourer, to Fowler Eliza - witnesses Robert Sinclair and Nancy Jamison. Is there any way of finding out if there were two Charles and Elizabeths married in County Down or if, somehow, the registration got mixed? I am really puzzled. Thank you in advance. Too early, I think. There was one only McShane in your time frame and that was in Londonderry (again) and late 1840s, but not McCane/McCain bride. Good luck - you are back further than I am! Used various wildcards too. Looks as though your second one is correct. I can't find any other Elizabeth Fowlers either. Bev

    3. Robert, Sorry to butt in here. I am interested in the name Fowler. Namely a Joshua Fowler who was a witness to my GG Grandparents' (Joseph McMorran and Susanna Pepper) Wedding on 15th July 1858. I'm assuming Joshua was close to, and possibly related as were a lot of marriage witnesses, to one of the families. The other witness was Elizabeth Holland. So, if you come across this Fowler name during your research, I would be most interested. Likewise, if I come across your Elizabeth Fowler, I will certainly let you know. 2. Hi Roberta & Claire, Was not Greyabbey similar to a County repository wherein "all" births, deaths, marriages in the Ards were deposited?  Greyabbey is but a very small locale with a very small population in and of itself.
