Aberdeen Daily News March 14, 1914 JOHN SCARBOROUGH IS DEAD Noted Bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Church passes away at age 83 by United Press Trenton NJ March 14 John Scarborough, aged 83, bishop of the New Jersey diocese of the Protestant Episcopal church since 1875, one of the foremost leaders of the church, died today of pneumonia. Bishop Scarborough was born in Castlewellan, Ireland April 23, 1831, He was the son of John and Anna Bella Hanna Scarborough; graduated at Trinity College, Hartford, in 1854, and other theological schools, and was ordained deacon in 1857, priest in 1858, and became assistant of St Paul's church, Troy, NY and rector of the Holy Comforter, Poughkeepsie 1860-7, and of Trunity church, Pittsburgh, 1867-75. He was made bishop in 1875.
