The best site I have found for studies on the Irish experience in Britain is www.brad.ac.uk/acad/diaspora . This a wonderful site located at the University of Bradford. It provides detailed information on Irish migration to Cumberland. This area was known as "little Ireland". Some of my ancestors went from Ballynahinch to Whitehaven, Cleator Moor, Egremont and other local towns to work in the iron ore mines there. It was one tough place. Check out the site it is worth a visit. Owen Davey -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter for private users. It has removed 25 spam emails to date.
