Compound names were frequently used in past centuries. In Ireland we commonly find Maryanna and Maryann, Marijane rather than Mary Jane and so on. Fiona, The name Ethelinda, written as that, just popped up, today while researching some New Zealand material. It was among some later 1800's names . Was not looking for it, just happened to notice as I scrolled downwards.
