Hi Rob&Wendy I am surprised that you felt the need to apologise for the illegitimacy , I have found over the period of my researching that in these hard times past when our ancestors had to struggle just to make a crust survival was the name of the game and if they survived then so did we, never frown or apologise for our past they were our survival, and be proud of it , and please do not take this as a slight upon your remarks remarks , Iknow you are as proud as we all are of our past and I also agree with you that those silent researchers are "pure dead brilliant " Alex On Jan 28, 2008 12:55 AM, Robt & Wendy Stevenson <stevensons@odyssey.on.ca> wrote: > What a lovely thought, and thank you for sharing. A friend recently pointed out to me that ALL of our ancestors had to survive long enough for us to be here! A simple but profound thought!! Alex, Thank you for your comments, but I would like to clarify that I did not mean to 'apologise' for his illegitimacy (in those days they were called 'natural' children). In fact I greatly admire his mother who had 3 children by the same father, who went on to produce other children by different women. She raised those children without the benefits of marriage, an in-law family's help, during difficult times in Ireland as a single mother. I cannot imagine her struggles!
