    3. Hi James Not sure if this would be your family in the 1851 census of County Down Margaret is showing as wife but with Elizabeth being deceased it is possible he married a 2nd time. Also William Jnr is William John not James Hoping this may be of some help Patricia New Zealand 1851 William McKEE na Dromore St, Ballynahinch Magheradrool Down 1851 Margaret McKEE na Dromore St, Ballynahinch Magheradrool Down 1851 Henry McKEE 14 Dromore St, Ballynahinch Magheradrool Down 1851 Anna McKEE 11 Dromore St, Ballynahinch Magheradrool Down 1851 James McKEE 9 Dromore St, Ballynahinch Magheradrool Down 1851 Margaret McKEE 7 Dromore St, Ballynahinch Magheradrool Down 1851 William John McKEE 5 Dromore St, Ballynahinch Magheradrool Down 1851 Elizabeth McKEE deceased Dromore St, Ballynahinch Magheradrool Down -----Original Message----- From: nir-down-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:nir-down-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of james twycross Sent: Sunday, January 20, 2008 8:08 PM To: NIR-DOWN@rootsweb.com Subject: [NIR-DOWN] McKee family I write from Melbourne Australia, first time to this list, in the hope that some kind subscriber/s can assist this puzzled Aussie trace accurate lines of descent. Here is what I have so far, William McKee, Bangor, Farmer married Elizabeth Little (I have no dates of births, marriage or deaths). One of their children, William James McKee migrated to Victoria in 1863 aboard the ship "Caduceus" with David McKee, 50 (father John McKee and mother Agnes McGill) and his wife Agnes, 40 (maiden name McTeer or maybe Mateer ?) and two other children,Ann 11 and Jan 6. William James McKee later joined the Victoria Police Force and his papers state that he was born on 2nd October 1848, his parents names were established from his death certificate. My first problem is to establish why William James McKee was travelling on a ship to Australia with David McKee and Agnes who were not his parents - was David his uncle ? It seems obvious that his parents sent him here under the care of a relative but what was the relationship between William's father and David ? I also wanted to establish if William James had any siblings and if so who are they and when were they born. And did his father, Farmer William McKee, have any brothers and sisters ? there is mention of a James McKee, born 11th May 1839 to William McKee and Elizabeth Little but that information comes second-hand and not from a reliable source. Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated. Best wishes from Melbourne, James Twycross. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to NIR-DOWN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. G'day Patricia, Thank you so much for your prompt response, I'm so grateful. Well, because I don't have any more information than I printed in my e-mail I'm not in a position to comment. It is quite possible that Elizabeth could have passed away and William re-married and the dates seem to fit OK. It might sound like a dumb question but I'm not too familiar with Bangor and nearby place names, is Ballynahinch, Magheradrool near to Bangor ? It will be interesting to see if any other subscriber can add to your great information. If William re-married perhaps some of his first wife's children were not happy about a new woman in their fathers life. All speculation of course, but possibilities. You have already given me something to chew over Patricia, I'm delighted to receive your message. Regards, James. -----Original Message----- From: nir-down-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:nir-down-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of Patricia Moosman Sent: 20 January 2008 19:07 To: nir-down@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NIR-DOWN] McKee family Hi James Not sure if this would be your family in the 1851 census of County Down Margaret is showing as wife but with Elizabeth being deceased it is possible he married a 2nd time.
