I forgot to add a big thank you for thinking about me! That was very sweet. Love, Kathy In a message dated 2/10/2008 4:02:54 P.M. Pacific Standard Time, KPagape@aol.com writes: There must be some confusion. I haven't found my husband's birth mother yet. I actually hired a company to do some research on her and they are having a hard time too. I did find out that she was married at 18 to another man and then had my husband with my husband's biological father (scandal!) and then married my husband's biological father at 20 years old. That's all they've found so far. They have me doing a "Book Read" online (I'm doing it because I didn't want to pay megabucks to have someone else do it) but its all the "delayed births" in Texas from 1850 to 1940! 19,000 pages! I've been doing it a little at a time and there are about 100 names on each page. I'm on page 3500 right now (so I should be done by Christmas LOL) We know that she was born in Texas, but the researcher thinks that my husband's biological mother's birth name was not Lattie but something else. They think that she was "given" the name Lattie for some reason like her biological dad left, or died and her mother remarried and just changed her name to Lattie. The researcher checked all the legal adoptions across the country and there was nothing for Joan Rebecca Lattie, so they are assuming that its not her "birth name." That's why I'm looking through the list of delayed births. This is a list of people who maybe weren't born in a hospital or didn't get around to filing a birth certificate on the day or week that their child was born. This program that I'm using is very interesting. Unfortunately the "read" that I'm doing is not "interesting" but its a great database if any of you have anyone you're looking for that ended up in Texas. I have access to every birth that was registered from 1850 to 1948. (in every county) I'd be glad to look anything up for anyone. I would welcome the break in the "read" that I'm doing. Something tells me that I'm going to go through 19,000 pages with 100 names on each page (typed with a typewriter) and am not going to find her. That will make me GREATLY disappointed!
