    3. Hi, I have to agree with Eric. I find this site very frustrating esp. when they give no date for the gravestone. Am I to assume that everything else on the gravestone is illegible too? They give no indication. These may possibly be the oldest gravestones, probably are, and would be of the most interest to me, but the cost is too high for me to take a chance and order a few. Also do they come in the form of a certificate as illustrated? This is not what I want, just the information on the headstone. I've used UHF and found them helpful. As to the state of resources in Ireland, yes, I'm afraid Eric speaks the truth though I don't necessarily agree with his choice of words! The National Archives do a wonderful job with the resources at their disposal. What a pity they were not funded adequately when the Celtic Tiger was still roaring. Ditto the National Library. And as Eric said, the local libraries are great. But we do seem to have a problem with conserving out records in this country, perhaps because our history made it more prudent in the past not to write anything down. As to the arrangement with the Canadian government - I can't see anything wrong with this - we just need more cooperation like it. The Registry of Deeds in Henrietta Street will be moving soon after three hundred years in the same place. Is there any guarantee that they will continue to be accessible in their new home, wherever that may be? Will be indexed online? Hah! I believe the records in the GRO are all computerised but noone can access them. There's a resource that would surely pay for itself if available. That's my rant over for today. Nicola Personally I do not find this site [as below] helpful at all. If I knew what they wanted me to put in to get a reasonable result then I wouldn't need them in the first place. Eric Has anyone used this site? http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/gravestones/iw/graveyards.cfm?CountyID=9 Their database contains Inscriptions for 160 Graveyards in County DOWN. Fiona.
