    3. Dear Stan, many thanks for this information, it is certainly a route to go down soon, but by the 1911 census, my grandfather was in a school for the deaf in Dublin. I wrote to the school - St Joseph's in Cabra - and they gave me information that he was there from 1908 to 1918 and that his father was dead! Now it could have been that his father was away in Scotland! I think I need to follow this up.
