To all who may be interested in visiting the GRONI. The address and phone number as well as website are as in Ella Patterson's recent email . Having recently visited the office - a few tips:- Do not go without a previous appointment - they are quite often booked up Only one person is permitted to be at a computer station at a time - there are about 6 or 7 stations only. The cost per session is £10 sterling and includes a request for 4 searches in a register to see the appropriate entry (brought by and shown to you by a member of staff). A photocopy of the certificate is about £2.50 (I think) If you want to see more than 4 entries - they are £2.50 extra each. The available information is indexes only which give name - usually age - place and Volume and page number for the appropriate register. You can come and go during your session and there are several places for lunch, coffee etc nearby as it is in the centre of the office area of Belfast. The office is about 5 minutes walk from the City Hall in the centre of Belfast. Take pencil and paper Your eyes will be turned in your head after 2 or 3 hours. The staff are extremely helpful Good Luck Mike Armstrong

Does the staff member stands beside you while you write down what information from the registration that you want? How long does it usually take for the registration to be brought to you? Do they bring one at a time? For example, how many registrations are you likely to see in a 5 hour period? Is the use of a digital camera allowed? >A photocopy of the certificate is about £2.50 (I think) What kind of paper/machine are they using to justify that cost? > If you want to see more than 4 entries - they are £2.50 extra each. I understand that with this information one can get the registration from the local Registry Office. Do the indexes tell you what Registry Office hold the record? I ask this because we have a LOT to look up. I was wondering if, after seeing the first 4 records it might be better to just get the details from the indexes as necessary, then later when back home, apply for an extract of the registrations from the local Registry office. I believe these also cost £2.50. David
