    1. Re: [NIR-DOWN] Going to Ireland
    2. When I read Lester's request for help my initial response was go see - go play -go enjoy -and save research for the next trip which I am sure you will want to take after going once. There is so much that is wonderful in all of Ireland to see and do and learn and love that I find research there the hardest I have ever done. The one exception I would make is graveyards. They are great and the way folks there are remembered in death is a must see. If you have names of folk who are related, and or names of townlands or street addresses from the past you might want to try checking some of them out. But in general I find that research takes over or enjoying your new environment takes over and it is so hard to do both on your initial trip unless you have had a lot of time to prepare ahead and know pretty much what you are looking for. Now I wouldn't be saying this if I didn't know that many on the list will give you some real help. I am here to make you feel better if you fail to use their help or spend your time in dusty tomes. I would suggest PRONI (Public Records of Northern Ireland) List, please correct me if I'm wrong on that! I could kick myself for not getting over there when I was in Belfast in June. Next time though, I'm going to spend several days there. I'm told that you should have all your ducks in a row before you go. Make sure you know exactly what you want to look up as to not waste any precious time while you are there. Have fun! Northern Ireland is the most incredible place I've ever been! Can anyone suggest possibilities for research while I am in Belfast. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
