Hello Ann, When we had Provinces, Otago was down at the South East corner of the South Island of New Zealand. Dunedin is the main city, used to be known as the Edinburgh of the South, originally settled by a large number of Scots. The area is still there, of course, but, for some reason they are now not called Provinces. I was looking for a Finlay / Ranger connection, which was how I noticed the name. I am sorry but I do not know where the Otago area is. Could you help me out? I am sorry I didn't answer this sooner, but I have been away from home. As far as I know, my Ethelinda did not leave Ireland. Her son and daughter came to USA but she could have had other relatives go to NZ--I do not know. The name is unusual and therefore I have tried to check out her instead of her common named husband, John Thompson.--It is a brickwall if ever there was one in my line--I really appreciate your help and I will save this info in case I can connect to it. Thanks so much!!
