Hello List I am researching the McGorian family from Down. I have Margaret McGorian born c1852 in Down and her father 's name as Stephen. Margaret was a Catholic (we think) and eventually married in Dublin in 1872 to Robert Barlow. I would be grateful for any info on the likely parish that Margaret was baptised in - and any info on McGorians from Down. Hilary, If you go to the website http://www.lecalehistory.co.uk and check the "People Index" in both the "Griffiths Valuation 1863 - Lecale" and the "1901 Census of Ireland - Lecale" (covers South-East County Down) you can get details of some McGorians (and other spellings of the name) and where they were living in that area in 1863/1901. A quick look at these would suggest to me that Downpatrick is one area to be explored. Click on "Historical Resources" on the Home Page.
