    3. Hi Rick, Many thanks for this information. Interesting that there was a Bernard DORIAN married in Belfast in 1886, I wonder if they were related and how. My chap may well have been deceased by this time, I still have not found his death. His wife Ellen died in Victoria, Australia in 1883, and as far as I can tell all her children were here too but I am not sure about Bernard. I am trying to find their entry in to Australia but no luck so far. According to Ellen's death certificate she had been in the Colonies for ten years so arrived c1873. Again, my thanks for your quick reply. Colin in Brisbane where it promises to be 33c today. ---- Original Message ----- From: The Huttons To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, March 02, 2009 4:52 AM Subject: Re: [NIR-DOWN] Dorian & McGerry Hi Colin For Catholic BMDs of that vintage, you usually need to know which Catholic parish church the events took place in. However, according to Ryan's book from 1997, 95% of the Catholic parish registers from Co Down have been indexed by the Ulster Historical Foundation. Maybe that number is closer to 100% by now. You might put out some feelers there. Checking the Tithe index from the 1830's, I see that there was 1 Nicholas McDonald listed in Co Down and he was living in the parish of Dunsfort ? in the townland of Ballydocks Upper and Lower. A downstream Dorian marriage that I see was Bernard Dorian to Sarah Green 12 Jan 1886 at Belfast RC Church, Belfast Urban No 11, Co Down. Good luck Rick Hutton ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ -------Original Message------- From: Colin Liddell Date: 3/1/2009 9:46:28 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [NIR-DOWN] Dorian & McGerry Good evening folks, I purchased a death certificate today that gave me a heap of information. The certificate was for Ellen DORIAN nee McDONALD, it said that Ellen married Bernard DORIAN in County DOWN c1839 and that her parents were Nicholas McDONALD and Ann McGERRY/GERRE. Ellen and Bernard's first child Ann was born c1840 and I presume in the same area as the marriage. This couple were Catholic. Any suggestions as to how I find more information on the marriage and births of their children (7 that I know of) would be greatly appreciated.
