I have further information re the Shortt family of the townland of Cabra, County Down since my postings of October 2008. Am hoping to find someone with genealogical or other information of this family. On Canadian Passenger Lists, 1865-1935 the following: James Shortt, 18 (birth about 1911), born Cabra, County Down, Northern Ireland, farm worker, landed immigrant. Port of departure Belfast, port of arrival Montreal Quebec 16 Aug 1929 on the Dutchess of Athol ship. His destination was stated as an uncle the Rev R. Magowan, 14th Avenue, Calgary, Alberta His father given as Mr. James Shortt, Greenhill, Cabra, Lisburn, Northern Ireland. By googling the name "Rev. R. Magowan Calgary" I found that his name was Robert Magowan and he was a Presbyterian minister in Calgary at the time of the church unions into the United Church of Canada.
