Regarding getting death records. I don't know if you can access them on site at wherever they are stored. In Dublin they are stored at Joyce Street. I have looked there to find mine. They don't have researchers to do the searching but I am sure you can hire someone. Having the date so that they would only have to look ion the correct book would make this relatively easy and require a short search. Also you might ask at whatever church they belonged to at the time of your grandmother's death. I am sure they keep a local burial record there. It wouldn't include cause of death etc but it might give you more information than just a date of death. Since the index is from the LDS I would contact their genealogy gurus for information about how to access the record. It is probably as easy as finding a genealogy center near you, ordering the correct film, with their help, and going and reading it. They do allow copies of their records. This is NOT so in Ireland to preserve the records.
