Owen, If you go to http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/indexes/searchform.aspx?id=4 and just enter Carolan in the surname box of the search...up they will pop the whole family. If you want you can then order copies of the original index with their information on it. I did this for one of my lot and the index has a lot more information then that shown in the search results. The "Kate" landed its immigrants at Sydney, NSW. I am looking fot he family of James Carolan/Carlin and his wife Mary Ann Davey,. They apparently had four children with them the youngest of whom was John Joseph. They came from, Ballynahinch area, Co. Down. According to Australian death records, Mary Ann was the daughter of Patrick Davey and Mary Denvir from Ballynahinch. She was born circa.1809. ... and the reel numbers match those in the link I sent. So you know that the Carolan family sailed from Plymouth on 7 Sep 1856 and arrived in Sydney on 23 Dec 1856.
