I am interested in finding out more about this couple: William MOONEY Kilkeel married Anne McCarton 29 Jun 1872 at Lower Mourne Catholic Church, witnesses were Francis & Margaret Pugh The birth of a daughter (no name) was published in the Dublin, Irish times. on 15 April 1878. The paper gave the mother's name as Nancy McCarton Mooney. Does anyone know the parents of either of William Mooney or Nancy/Anne McCarton? Wasn't it unusual for such a birth to be published in the Dublin paper unless it was a prominent familY? I'm wondering if either the husband (Mooney) or the wife (McCarton) was connected to the prominent Mooney-McCartan family of Dublin and if they are, then they are likely connected to a very successful Irish born NY businessman, Patrick O'H MCCartan who erected a grave at Clanvaraghan for his wife Rosa Murray McCartan and her parents.
