Nan The surname was actually McAdara (McAdarra, McAdarragh, McAdarrah, etc.). It was common to Clonallan parish and could also be found in Co. Louth. I have a McAdara database (some of them are my relations) and there is only one McAdara family living in Mayo townland (next to the village of Mayobridge) in 1901 but that James McAdara would have only been 68 in 1905. (His age is incorrect in 1901). Thanks for the information - must do some investigating into the 103 year old James.
