    3. Hi Mike, Thomas Gordon arrived in Sydney 16 May 1840 having travelled on the ship, "Thomas Lowry" and William Gordon arrived in Sydney on the "Wilson" 7 January 1842 and then went to New Zealand. If these two men are the brothers I am searching for, Thomas had already gone to New Zealand. William's record gives the extra information that his Baptism Certificate has the name J. Alfred Canning of Kilkeel and Char. Ref. George Lewis & another of Kilkeel. Are they still likely to be on the Griffith Valuation of Mourne? I'm thinking from your email that they may have left Ireland too early to be included on that. On the immigration record it states that both their parents were deceased. We have lots of info regarding their lives in NZ but none concerning their lives in Ireland. Thanks for your help. Heather. 3. Heather Have you looked at the 1841 NSW Census for Thomas Gordon? I am not sure if it is online or only available in hard copy. Would the Title List be of any use? Although it would only give their possible father's name in Mourne. 3. Hi Mike, Thanks for the suggestions. The NSW 1841 census is online, but I couldn't find Thomas Gordon. I think he would have gone almost immediately to NZ. From our searching, it would seem as though the two brothers cut off their former lives in Ireland from their new lives in NZ. As descendants we are all keen to find links to possible family in Ireland. We have two names for the father. From a death certificate (I think it is William's) we learned that the father's name was Thomas and that the mother was Jane Martin and that William was born in Co. Down. The immigration records which I am now working from, state that the father was James and the mother was Jane Cummer. I'm the only researcher in the family who is pursuing this avenue. Others still believe that the father was Thomas and mother, Jane Martin. The immigration records seem rather compelling to me and are the closest any of us have got to the Irish end of this puzzle. Thomas's (brother of William) death notic! e said for Sydney and Newry papers to take note. Could you explain to me what the Title List is please? Regards, Heather.
