Surnames included in this message are: Hassan, Harrison, Donnan, Mulligan, Wightman, Savage, McKeekan, Johnston Hello everyone I am researching my maternal grandfather's family, the Hassans from Bangor and wonder if anyone links into my tree or has any further information that might help my research. Alexander Hassan b c1838 d 1919 married Elizabeth Harrison in 1871 in Bangor. Alexander's father was named as Henry Hassan, servant. Elizabeth's father was Hugh Harrison, farmer. Alexander and Elizabeth had eight children: Henry Hassan b1872 d1917 m Elizabeth Robinson DONNAN 1893 in Belfast John Hassan b 1874 d1944 lived in USA for many years but returned to Bangor around the 1930's Alexander Hassan b 1878 d 1959 m Mary Ann MULLIGAN 1912 Jane Hassan b1876 d1959 m James WIGHTMAN Lena Hassan b1881 d1903 Hugh Hassan b1883 disappeared in USA sometime after 1906 William Hassan b1889 d1915 James Hassan b1892 m Sarah SAVAGE 1921 Alexander Hassan and Mary Ann Mulligan had two children, both born in England - William b1914 d1978 and Sheila b1924 d1999 Jane Hassan and James Wightman had 5 children: James Wightman b1905 Jane Wightman b1908 Madge Wightman d1976 Queenie Wightman d1978 Lena Wightman d1981 James Hassan and Sarah Savage had 4 children: James Hassan - emigrated to Ontario, Canada Mary Hassan Jean Hassan David Hassan In addition there was also a William Hassan, master mariner, who was lost at sea in 1845 age 29. He married Hannah ?McMeekan and they had two sons that I am aware of - James who died young, and William Henry b c1844 d1927 - a gold miner. I do not know whether William was related to my Hassans as I can't find any information about Henry Hassan. In addition I have a Jane Harrison who registered the births of Alexander and Elizabeth's children, Gertrude JOHNSTON who was Elizabeth's marriage witness, and Lena JOHNSTON who was staying with the family in 1911 and is listed as "aunt". Both Alexander Hassan snr and Elizabeth give their place of birth on census as Bangor, Co Down but I am having difficulty finding any records online for this family. Although they were married in First Presbyterian, Bangor, their sons are listed in the Roll of Honour for the Great War in Trinity Presbyterian Church, Bangor. Any information or help would be most gratefully received. Thankyou Catherine Carney
