    3. Hi Moira, My Moffat family supposedly ws born in Scotland (do not know where), but married in Ireland and then went to Nova Scotia (Horton/Cornwallis). From there my William Moffat (son of Thomas) went to Boston, MA about 1848 or so. I have info that states my Thomas Moffat and Jane :Pickering were born in Scotland but I feel That Jane may have been born in Ireland as so much of her family seems from there. No proof yet though. Christy -----Original Message----- From: Moira Draper Sent: Thursday, February 10, 2011 2:47 AM To: nir-down@rootsweb.com Subject: [NIR-DOWN] William MOFFAT Thankyou all for your kind emails regarding various Moffat families and spellings. William who married Agnes O'Neill [my previous email] gave his Mother's maiden name as "Agnes WATSON". I have been searching full-time for months but I can't find a William Moffat or Moffett who married an Agnes Watson in Ireland. There are one couple in Scotland who fit the bill but their families are too old. Many thanks from Moira. -------------------------------------------------- 433 list members as of 1 Feb 2011. 3. Christy Have you tried the Wigtonshire Churches. I saw in one of the Statistical Returns that up to 500 people would row from Ireland (so I assume County Down) to go to Church at Portpatrick in Wigtonshire. I assume this was the Presbyterian Church or one of its Branches Mike Boyd Brisbane ----- Original Message ----- From: "Christy" <poppy0206@earthlink.net> To: <nir-down@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, February 11, 2011 2:20 AM Subject: Re: [NIR-DOWN] William MOFFAT > > Hi Moira, > > My Moffat family supposedly ws born in Scotland (do not know where), but > married in Ireland and then went to Nova Scotia (Horton/Cornwallis). 3. Hi Mike, I found info on them at this link but have not ordered the actual record. It seems I tried awhile back and was told this was all there was but now I cannot recall. A fellow researcher I believe on this list gave me some good advice, I have yet to have time to delve into it yet though. http://www.dankat.com/earls/file11a.htm -----Original Message----- From: Mike Boyd Sent: Thursday, February 10, 2011 6:01 PM To: nir-down@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NIR-DOWN] William MOFFAT Christy Have you tried the Wigtonshire Churches.
