    3. Hi Mike, They married in 1860. You can see their marriage details on Ros. Davies site. The couple was generally from the Glastry area. I'm sorry that I didn't list all known details but I really wanted to get feedback about the blurb. regards, Richard

    3. Richard There was this Boyd family from the mid 1600's at Glastry townland. O2 David Boyd, b / /163x ( ), d / /1694 ( ), bu , m / /165x (church, town, county, etc), Margaret Kennedy, dau of and (nee ) Kennedy, b / /163x ( ), d / /16xx ( ), bu , and had issue:- [Lived: of Glastry, County Down, Ireland ] This David Boyd is the grandson of Colonel David Boyd, of Tourgill, a natural son of the fifth Lord Boyd. Col Boyd was "given" 1,000 acres in the Parish of Grey Abbey by Sir Hugh Montgomery - his 5 ot 6th cousin - in 1606. MY UNDERSTANDING from the maps of the Montgomery and Hamilton Lands that Glastry was part of the Hamilton lands in County down. (I have yet to get time to reserch if this Hamilton was part of Hamiltons that married into various Boyd families. I think his father or grandfather was the Minister at Dunlop in Ayrshire.) However, I am not sure how long this Boyd family had this land in Glastry. I do know that some from this area are buried at Ballyhalbert C of I Cemetery and are outlined in Volume 15 of County Down Gravestone Inscriptions pub. by the Ulster Historical Foundation in Belfast. So you may wish to see if there are any Orr's and Reids listed in this publication. I assume that your family is Presbyterian. From memory when I visited the Presbyterian Church at Glastry in 2008, it did not start to bury people until the early 1700's or mid 1700's. And I am not sure which Volume of these MI Volumes that Glastry might be in. Hopefully, it will give you some Orr's and Reids to work into your tree.
