My Grandfather, William Thomas Murphy > came out to Australia in approx 1884 from Carrowdore. His parents, > Robert and Margaret (nee Murphy) Murphy continued to live in > Carrowdore. They had other children but I am not sure how many. I > know William had a brother, Alexander, who came out to Australia > previously. There was also another brother,m Hugh and a sister, > Ellen Mary. > > On the 1901 and 1911 census, Ellen is listed as still living at home > and has a son, William Thomas Murphy. My husband and I travelled to > Northern Ireland in 2009 and I fell in love with County Down. We > found a headstone in the Church of Ireland cemetery at Carrowdore > for William Thomas, died in 1977. He was born approx 1896. Also > buried there was his wife, Anna Mary and his mother, listed as Ellen > Mary Stoupe, so she must have married later on. > > I went into the Proni office in Belfast but didn't find anything, > the Church records were waiting to be sorted. Also, can you tell me if your death > certificates list children of the deceased? In NSW, our death > certificates list all children and whether or not they are still > living...this is a big help but I have been told that Death > Certificates over there only list the details of the death. > > I hope I hear from someone! There is a possibility of me travelling > back over there this year and I will be sure to book in to search at > the GRO office as soon as I know when I am going to be there! > > Thanks > > Alison :-) > > > __._,_.___ > Reply to sender | Reply to group | Reply via web post | Start a New > Topic > Messages in this topic (1) > RECENT ACTIVITY: New Members 3 > Visit Your Group > Switch to: Text-Only, Daily Digest • Unsubscribe • Terms of Use > . > > __,_._,___
