New files! Have just added additional photos and transcriptions for Dundonald Graveyard in Belfast. This set was contributed by Yvonne Russell. There are also two more photos for Knockbreada in Belfast. Also wanted to mention that you can now search our newspapers from all counties by using the search engine on the main IGP Archives page. Use the drop down choices on the box and pick irelandnews. We wanted to offer this option because different locations are named in assorted newspapers, and you might miss them, if you didn't know where to look. To view the new Headstone photos go to: http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ Pick DOWN from the Table and then Headstones. Enjoy! Thank you so much Joyce! You have been a tremendous help! So, there's a possibility that this is my ggrandparents William & Sarah (kirk) Wilson. Sarah (kirk) Wilson's age is a bit off, as she was born in 1874, but she sometimes seems to fudge her age.... Thanks again for your help!! Debbye
Hi Debbye (again!) The fact that you are having trouble finding William in 1901 could be due to this taken from Natioanl Archives Website - "Missing Townlands/Streets A number of townlands/streets do not appear in the online census for 1901 and 1911, mostly due to their never having been microfilmed, and thus never digitised. This is being remedied, and the missing material will be placed online as soon as possible. A list of the missing material will shortly appear on this page. The records for some streets and townlands have never been in the custody of the National Archives, and these will be clealy indicated." This note as been on the National Archives Website for a while now, but the list mentioned has not appeared to date. However, I have had a quick look on Googlemaps for both Gilford and Ballysheil, and they would appear to be about 7 miles apart, Gilford being about 3 miles north west of Banbridge, and Ballysheil being about 4 miles south east of Banbridge. Someone else on the list may know the area better than I do. Joyce
Hello Joyce, Yes, William Wilson married Sarah Kirk on April 8th, 1901 in Ballygowen. I have been unable to find them in the 1901 census, but do have them in the 1911. I did find today the following, but I have no idea if this is near Gilford... Census Years1901ArmaghBallysheilMavemacullenResidents of a house Residents of a house 4 in Mavemacullen (Ballysheil, Armagh) Wilson Willie 23 Male Head of Family Presbyterian County Armagh Farmer Read and write - Married - Wilson Sarah 23 Female Wife Presbyterian Co Armagh - Read and write - Married Thanks again for your interest, Debbye
Debbye Thanks for the explanation of your situation. Was your family in Ireland in 1901? Do you know the occupation of your William Wilson (senior and junior)? If I spot anything else that may help you I shall put a note on the list. Hello Joyce, Thank you so much for your help! I will do just that. According to William's WWI draft registration card (in the US), he stated his date of birth as June 2nd, 1875 in Gilford...I then found the birth record you found as well; which give me hope that William Wilson & Jane Adams[on] were his parents. (William's marriage record stated his father's name was also William) I also found, I believe, the will of Jane Wilson of Gilford available online at PRONI, and learned William may also have a brother John. I then found the will of John Wilson, of Whinny Hill, Gilford (dated 1920), but the will in not transcribed. One bit of the puzzle that doesn't quite fit is, Jane Wilson states property on Whinny Hill Gilford belonged to her father, James Adams...not Adamson. Therefore, I was tring to find perhaps a marriage record of William Wilson & Jane Adams[on]. Thanks again for all you help! Debbye Also found that if you search Ireland Births and Baptisms on LDS Pilot Website (or Beta Website) you will find that William Wilson was born 2 June 1877 to William Wilson and Jane Wilson Adamson. The record has "Banbriofe" which would appear to be a "typo" for Banbridge. Joyce . They in turn had a son William who was born June 2nd 1875 or 1877, possible in Gilford or Banbridge?

I have just posted a new blog called Random Acts. It is my first December post and hence will be listed under that month. Amongst other things (I tend to natter), it encourages people to contribute to an Irish Deeds Registry project. It also updates people on some of the transcriptions that I have recently done and will be contributing via my web site in the new year. My recent focus has been JACKSONs and anyone else who crossed their path. The link to my blog site is beneath. Cheers, Sharon -- Sharon Oddie Brown Roberts Creek, BC, Canada. Mindy It would appear from some other data that this David Boyd (bc 1837) came from Killyleagh, Co Down. [I could not find Killyleagh on my Road Atlas, so I assume it is an townland. So hopefully someone from the Down List can tell us where the nearest town is in County Down.] When I visited PRONI in 2008, I got this data :- Will, John Boyd, Killyleagh, 1696, wife Lettis Morrow So this would suggest that Boyd families have been in this part of County Down for at least 300 years. I will make this into a new family chapter in Volume 11 for County Down Boyd families.
