    3. I have just posted a new blog about Jacksons in Co. Armagh, Co. Wicklow and Co. Wexford. The links at the bottom of this blog connect to other pages on my web site where I have uploaded dozens of pages of new data. Many more family names from these places are also included in the linked documents. Some of them are likely of interest to those looking in Armagh, Fermanagh, Louth, Monaghan, Carlow, or Co. Down. As always, I love to be told when I am wrong - it gives me a chance to get it right. So, if you see any errors in either the blog or in any of the linked documents, please let me know. Also, if you have more to add, I am all ears. Also, I have just redesigned the blog layout. I think it is now a bit easier to navigate and also a little more pleasing to view. The photo of the books on either side come from one of the set of shelves in our own home - unfortunately not the Irish section (the layout of those shelves did not lend itself to such a photo). The link to the blog is beneath - and it is titled "No Success Like Failure". Enjoy, Sharon -- Sharon Oddie Brown Roberts Creek, BC, Canada. 3. Hi Mike, Samuel KENNEDY was married in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland and is actually listed as a coal miner on his marriage certificate in 1862. He lost a 4 year battle with consumption only ten years later as a pauper with a wife Martha NEIL and five children, one of which was born only 2 days after he died. Which seems quite sad to me. Not sure how else to connect him to a town in Ireland as yet. 3. Fiona I will copy this to the Ayrshire list as well. I have not had to chace up any miners, but I assume that you will "need" to try to find out which mine he was working at when he married in 1862 and see if there is an history of where that mine recruited people from. His father may have come from Ireland and then he followed him into the mines. The Ayrshire Census may also help you to find any other parnets and siblings in Kilmarnock Good hunting Mike Boyd Brisbane where our River a running a little high at present ----- Original Message ----- From: "Fiona Arnold" <fionajkennedy@gmail.com> To: <nir-down@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, January 13, 2011 9:50 AM Subject: Re: [NIR-DOWN] Samuel KENNEDY > Hi Mike, > > Samuel KENNEDY was married in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland and is > actually > listed as a coal miner on his marriage certificate in 1862. 3. Hello, I have checked the book Gravestone Inscriptions County Down Volume 19 and Ellen Jane Collins is not listed in Waringstown Graveyard, likely as her death came after 1900. There is however another Ellen Collins who was buried in 1864 in Dromore Presbyterian Graveyard listed in this book. If you would like further information on her record, let me know. 3. Hi Mike, Sorry, I should have been clearer. Samuel KENNEDY was actually married in Ayr, Scotland in 1862. His marriage certificate lists his parents names of Halliday KENNEDY and Lydia LATTA. But I haven't been able to locate either one of those names on any nline source so I'm casting my net wider. It is the 1861 census that lists Ireland as Samuel's birthplace. After a search for any LATTA's in the areas of Ireland (as that was for less common than KENNEDY), a couple were found in Co Donegal. Only one KENNEDY there via Griffiths Valuation Samuel's supposed birth of 1823 (listed as aged 38 on 1861 census). I'm taking the date with a grain of salt as he was supposedly then over 10 years older than his wife to be - not overly common, so I'm broadening it to the 1830's. The reason I am directing my searches to Co Down along with Donegal, Derry and Antrim is because of the small list of Samuel Kennedy births found on IFHS site between 1817 and 1845. But no specific parishes/towns as yet from a census, marriage certificate, Griffiths Valuations plus IFHS indexes. Hopefully that make sit all a little clearer for you. 3. Greta Would it be best first to see if you can look up the Minister on Google to see if he may be able to do a look up for you.
