I didn't find anything for you but stumbled upon the fact that only Londonderry has been transcribed around that time frame, plus 1 in Antrim in 1844. The search engine turned up 38 entries 1836-1844 with names starting with WAL. 2. Sandra Wanamaker
    3. Thank you!! That's very good to know. Londonderry is where most of the Hassons seem to be, but I believe that Maryanne was living in Belfst or Bangor when she married Hamilton Wallacve. She may well have been born in Londonderry. Sandy -----Original Message----- From: nir-down-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:nir-down-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Gloria Sent: Sunday, November 18, 2007 9:40 PM To: nir-down@rootsweb.com Subject: [NIR-DOWN] Hassan,Hassam, etc Just to add to Bev's response........ The British Isles Vital Record Index Cd's from LDS turned up an interesting result. Entering Hassan, I put in the "h" Cd only to be told to put in the "a" surname Cd and low and behold there were the Hassan surnames and variants for births. As you will note 1865 is the starting point for the records and include one in Dublin and a couple in Donegal, but as Bev states it appears that Londonderry is probably one of few that has been transcribed as yet, but it does show that perhaps there are records in the wrong/or alternative spellings that were files phonetically perhaps with silent "h". The surnames are Hassan, Hasson, Hassin and Aussin, Ausen. Who knows why they are all under "a". and not "h". Three people I had born in Newry and they had recorded Tandragee in addition, so 3 records have been improved. One of their records had Great Grandmother as Amry, a simple typo, so was able to send an amendment to them. She was Mary Jane BELL married to James KERLIN. 3. Raymond, I want to say a big thank you for all the time you have spent making these records, and so much more, available. You should be very proud! I also wanted to say what a great collection of midi files you have and thank you for making them available for us all to download. Although I was born in England, I always remember growing up listening to many of these songs, which my father played often. I was just now listening to the Soldiers song and even though I was not born in Ireland, I cannot help but feel a pang of pride that my father and ancestors were. Thank you once again!
