    3. Joni, An uncle of mine, Thomas Lindsay married an Annie Skillen on Oct 6, 1890 in St. Annes Parish Church Belfast. Her father was a Hugh Skillen, tailor. She died in 1946 at 41 Ewart's Row Belfast. I believe she had a brother John. That is really all I know about this Skillen family. 3. <Tullycore is a townland near Killinchy. Tullycore National school was recently converted into a dwelling. The school register is in PRONI.> Sean, thanks for the clarification. I had thought that was correct according to what maps I've found. How far back would the National school records go? Most of my Marshall family left that area in the 1840s; however, two girls were married and remained behind. Mary Marshall married a John Marshall in 1838 and Ann Marshall married David Gibson, also in 1838. Both married in the Killinchy Non-Subscribing Presbyterian Church and the Gibson family, at least, has a tombstone erected in the cemetery there.

Also his sister Mary who d. Jan. 24 1937 aged 88. And MARTHA MAGOWAN, daughter of above Mary who d. June 19 1967 aged 84. Also Wesley Magowan, husband of Martha, who d. March 21 1964 aged 87. GIBSON Erected by David Gibson of Tullcore in mem. of his son Robert who d. Feb.24 1852 aged 5 years. Also his son John who d. May 25 1854 aged 2 years. Also his son James who d. Dec.1 1863 aged 21. Also his wife Ann who d. July 25 1865 aged 44. Also his son Thomas who d. Aug. 16 1875 aged 12 years. The 1886 Killinchy Directory listed T. Gibson, farmer, at Carrickmannon and W.J. Marshall at Tullycore. Any present day descendants might be listed at <bt.com> under either Newtownards or Comber. The Gibsons were among the early settlers from Scotland in the beginning of the 17th. C The Muster Roll of County Down 1631 held at Bangor listed: GIBSON James & Robert. 1. Re: [NIR-DOWN] NIR-DOWN re Roneys orange orders etc
    2. Hi My Irish families were in Cleator Moor area of Cumberland and I do know that there was lots of unrest between protestant and catholic- riots etc, There was an orange lodge in the Whitehaven area as an orange order march took place 12 july 1884 by the Cumberland orange order, during the ensuing riot a policeman was shot and killed. Weapons including revolvers swords sabres and pikes were found. There were also other incidents sparked off by various events. I got this from cleator moor revealed- a book by Tom Duffy. No mention of any Roneys from memory- I have Roneys too and have looked at your family on census returns many a time:) I'll have a proper read tonight incase Ive missed anything - work first mores the pity. carol
