    2. The Huttons
    3. The LDS did some extractions of the birth registers for the early years of the 1864+ Civil Registrations. My grandfather's siblings who were born between 1864 and 1876 in Cos Antrim & Louth are listed in the IGI with exact dates, location and parents names. My grandfather born 1878 in Co Antrim is not in the IGI. So, if you have an ancestor born in about the 1864 -1876 time frame, you might find them and parents listed in the IGI at www.familysearch.com . Look for notes at bottom of the IGI page that say the record was an extraction. Don't rely on records submitted by church members. To: <[email protected]> Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" This a great new site and thank you to those who alerted us all. I see this development a turning point in NI research. I spent years, including three trips to Ireland, to find this info. Sort of feel I have been a bit out-flanked, but I am happy for all those for whom this resource will be a "'god-send". In a couple of years or so all the basic information will be on line and easily accesible. Still nothing can ever replace those memorable trips to Ireland! One word of caution, there may be un-reliability in this new data in-somuch as some RC parish priest were very slow "to get with the new program". During the transition period when the RC clergy were coming up to speed, I think I am safe in saying that some parish ceremonies did not make it to the civil registration authorities. So if you can not find records where you expect them to exist, check back with the parish records themseves. I am not sure if this is the right way to say this, but I have been "be-deviled" over the years by the sloppiness in the way parish preists managed their registers. Events are mis-dated, participants mixed up, and date-order meant nothing at all. I think priests kept their notes on scaps of paper in their pockets and brought their journals up to date as it occured to them. Still, i thank them for their work and the legacy of these documents. For a penance, try and work your way though the Magheradrool RC Parish Register. Including the most valuable information, it also portrays every register-keeping error known to man or priest My best to you all, especially all the pioneers in Co Down geneology research like Raymond and Ros, and those others who led the way. 3. Hi. Ballybranigan still exists. My Grandad used to have the farm there. I could easily find out wether its classed as part of Portaferry now, as my family still live in the area. Let me know if you are still interested (I realize I am responding to a very old thread.) The Brennans were my grandparents neighbours. Mrs Brennan makes lovely jam! 1. [NIR-DOWN] TENNANT of Shannaghan, Newry Parish, Down
    2. Sandra Tennant
    3. Hello: I was wondering if anyone on the list might have access to the records of the Katesbridge Presbyterian Church?   I am specifically looking for information on James and (Elizabeth?) Tennant and their children. James was a shoemaker in Shannaghan and their children were born in the late 1830's to 1850's and some were married in the Katesbridge Church. Are there any available cemetery records for this church? I have no info on any birth or death dates.    I am at a dead end with this couple. I believe James married secondly to a Sarah Haslett/Hislipp) in 1876 and they were my late husband's grandparents.   Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.
