    3. I'm back again on my O'Neill ancestors. I need a little help from someone conversant with how PRONI records data. Below is information gleaned from www.AncestryIreland, the UHF's website. The record is of a baptism. The information doubtless came from a PRONI record. _____________________________________________________________________________ Parish/District: DROMORE Roman Catholic Date of Birth: _____________ Date of Baptism: 20Feb1825 First name: Charles Surname: O'Neill Sex: Male Denomination: _____________ Father's First name: Hugh Father's Surname: O'Neill Mother First name: _____________ Mother Surname: Sloan Witness 1 First Name: Hugh Witness 1 surname: Magee Witness 2 First Name: Alice Witness 2 Surname: Tomilty Address 1: BELLANY (almost certainly a transcription error. Should read, I believe, BALLENY) Address 2: ______ Address 3: Banbridge Address 4: Co Down Note: "Other possible spelling: HUGH NEILL" _______________________________________________________________________________ "Address 1: BELLANY" (Balleny) would be the townland. "Address 2: _______" "Address 3: Banbridge" is what I question. The townland of BALLENY is not in Banbridge, or vice-versa. It lies north of Banbridge - going form Dromore to a bit to the south. The only way I can reconcile all the "Addresses" listed as indicating one place is if "Address 3: Banbridge" indicates the Poor Law Union. But the record is of an event that occurred in 1825. The poor Law Unions weren't created until a decade later. Would PRONI have recorded this 1825 baptism as occuring in the Poor Law Union of Banbridge, even though that Poor Law Union did not exist at the time of the baptism? Thanks. Charles O'Neill

    3. Hi Fiona: Thanks for doing offering to do lookups for the list. I am looking for the name HUNSDALE or HUNTSDALE. I have seen it spelt both ways. They are all related somehow so any entries with that name would be great. Before most of them moved to Belfast they were all from the Newtownards and Comber area. 3. At the LDS site (www.familysearch.org ) look in the catalog under "Transcripts of memorials of deeds, conveyances and wills, 1708-1929". The film numbers and such will be there along with a description. The Registry of Deeds is in Dublin. You can Google that.
