    3. Allan. The error would be one of the thousands of mistakes made by clergy/officials found throughout the NI BMD data base. Going through parish records I have found so many that I have wondered what esle the clergyman might have had on his mind at the time. In my books these are the dad and his son. I would not look any further. 2. Sharon Oddie Brown
    3. I have a dear friend who is 94 years old and he recently asked me if I could unearth anything about his Ulster roots. He has the vaguest of family stories to go on. I have assembled what I could find out from him beneath. If anyone recognizes anything that might fit, he would be beyond thrilled. Sharon Oddie Brown Roberts Creek, BC, Canada History Project: http://www.thesilverbowl.com/ Family Tree: http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=silverbowl George WHITE (Abt 1840-1910) George WHITE was probably born according to oral memory about 1840 (this would be before most records are readily available, although age at death should provide a reasonable time frame if not an accurate date). As a young man, he worked on an "Englishman's" farm in Ulster. His profession was variously given as "blacksmith" or "butcher". Oral family stories say he ran away with the "bosses" daughter (this may have been a foreman of some sort, rather than the owner of the land). At the age of 18-20, he emigrated to Ontario, possibly out of Belfast. He died in 1910. NOTE: George White (no middle name) was recorded in the BC Archives site and he died 12/18 1912, age recorded as 74 (Therefore b. abt 1838). These dates are likely the more realistic dates. Silas Franklin WHITE (abt 1861-1929) Silas Franklin WHITE was the son of George WHITE and an unnamed mother. He was born about 1861, possibly on board the ship. It is possible that his parents were as yet unmarried. His mother died in Ottawa in 1867 (NOTE: It is often possible to get a maiden name from a death certificate). Silas married secondly and there were more children from that union, one of whom "Mattie" was born in Canada. Silas spent a lot of time in USA touring as a "strongman". NOTE: Silas Franklin White died 11/10 1929, age recorded as 65 (therefore born about 1864). This death date is probably the more realistic one.

    2. Hi, I have a wedding certificate for my great grandparents , a Sarah McCullough and Thomas McNeany on 14 July 1873 in Seapatrick , my problem is that the father of Thomas is a Bernard McNenay ( spelled differently to that of Thomas on the certificate) .I have looked at the Griffiths Evaluation for 1863 and the nearest and only match I can find for Bernard is a Bernard McAnerney , who was living in Garvaghy and place name of Ballooly More, if any one is researching the McAnerney name or can offer any help in finding the wife of Bernard and any possible siblings for Thomas I would be most grateful. The father of Sarah McCullough was a Robert McCullough , though I am not sure if they originated from Co Down .Thomas was born in Banbridge , both him and Sarah being born about 1850. I seriously doubt that you will be able to cut yourself off from an occasional foray into the everlasting search for ancestors. If you CAN do it, you have more willpower than I! Like all others who have responded to your announcement, I wish you well, and, May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. And rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of His hand. Anthony Mournian San Diego, California ps: Incidently, Grit and I share a common name somewhere in our past: Mournian. If anyone knows more about it than Grit or her cousin, Joan, please tell us!

    1. [NIR-DOWN] Thank you so much Raymond
    2. Sharon
    3. Raymond;   I have not been on the Raymond's Co.Down website hosted by yourself, Raymond but, for only about two years now and have been on the receiving end of your wonderful works.   You encouraged me to keep going on, even though I had very little to work with. It has paid off I might add and it was your encouraging words and help in locating many of my ancestors in Co.Down.   I can't help but, be a bit sad with your news but, I am also happy for you and your family.   You will be greatly missed and I too thank you for so much of your time and dedication you have put into Raymond's site and for all the help you have givien so many of us..   Enjoy your life and know just how much you are loved and how much you have blessed others with your kindness.   God Bless you my dear friend,   Sharon/USA
