I am new to this mailing list and am looking for some information: My gg-grandfather, Laughlin Cassidy (varied spellings) was born in Londonderry in about 1794. He left for America, I believe, in the prior to or in the 1830's. Looking for information finding him in any census, Catholic church records, baptismal records, land records, etc. Also, can anyone tell me what port that people from Londonderry area were leaving from in the early 1830's? Did Londonderry have a port at that time? What were the main occupations in that area in the 1820's/1830's? I don't know what his occupation would have been.
