Robyn You could try getting your ancestors marriage cert. GRO will search within a span of years. Ideally you need the location and date. www.groni.gov.uk . This may not be strictly within the bounds of what GRO offer but you could try asking for the certs of any children born to this couple. When I got my grandmother's birth cert they phoned me to say there were some siblings I wasn't aware of.. I have a facsimile 'Derry Almanac and Directory,1871' It is not indexed of course and the print is tiring ( much as I love old books I wish they'd reproduce these things on CD ROM) There is a John Galbraith in Fountain Hill- the Waterside side of the Foyle. No Glbraith in Dungiven Road. If anyone is interested in the book it is available from www.ulsterbooks.com ISBN0-9543063-3-3. Rachel, Is the above book a listing of all people in Derry or more like Pigots Directories? Hate to buy it and then find that labourers aren't included :) Thanks
