    3. Hello, We spent a restful night at lovely B&B in Claudy the night before entering Derry two years ago. And while I'm on the subject, is there any way of verifying or otherwise checking a reported marriage in Derry long ago? An ancestor, George Kirk, is said to have married a Jane Bell Thompson there in 1796. Have no idea where; nor any knowledge of their lives in Derry prior to marriage. I have a fairly good history of his life in Pennsylvania, USA, where he died in 1913. Thanks for any clues, directions, or advice on how to look. 3. Marian I had a look in the Cathedral registers but this marriage didn't appear. Are you sure about your dates- married 1794, died 1913? Rachel snip................., is there any way of > verifying or otherwise checking a reported marriage in Derry long ago? 3. Rachel: Thank you for your kind effort in looking up 1796 marriage of George Kirk and Jane Bell Thompson. I have no documentation of this date, but I do have specific details and date of Kirk's death in this country. So I suspect the marriage date information is "suspect". Are there other churches in Derry where a marriage might have taken place? I'm not asking for a look-up but simple information on alternatives to a marriage in the cathedral. Many thanks again for your look-up effort, Marian ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rachel" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, March 01, 2003 2:45 AM Subject: [Derry] George KIRK/Jane Bell THOMPSON > Marian > > I had a look in the Cathedral registers but this marriage didn't appear. > Are you sure about your dates- married 1794, died 1913? > > Rachel > snip................., is there any way of > > verifying or otherwise checking a reported marriage in Derry long ago?
