Hello Sandra, In answer to your questions: The Parishes of Dungiven, Bovevagh, Balteagh and Drumachose are all gathered together in the same area of North Londonderry. Taking Balteagh as the centre we are talking about a 10 mile radius. Drumachose would be better known as the district of Limavady as opposed to the district of Dungiven but the two towns are close together. As regards Downs/Downes. In the same valuations only two families are found: 1826 Andrew Downs Drummond Drumachose 1828 Joseph Downs Terrydoo Walker Balteagh In the later valuation of 1860 I found: John Downs Carran Drumachose Joseph Downes Ballynahery Drumachose Alexander Downes Drumneechy Bovevagh My regards Robert www.ulsterancestry.com >From: Sandra Devlin <[email protected]> >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [Derry] Re Devlin/ Dungiven >Date: Fri, 18 Apr 2003 09:50:43 -0300 > >Robert: > >So much thanks for doing this for us. > >I am immediately struck by the name "William Devlin, Drumrammer, >Drumachose, 1826" > >That would fit perfectly with my ancestor William Devlin, born circa 1803 >and father of James born May 17, 1830. > >By chance, if it is not too much trouble -- are there DOWNES on Valuation >in Drumrammer, Drumachose.
