Hello Frank I think we may have been in contact before. I saw a posting from "Phyllis" who mentioned she was searching this name. I have been searching other sides of my family and was just thinking about getting back to to the Irish links. My great grandfather Hamilton Smith from Glendermott, Derry came to Glasgow and on arrival 1873 married an Irish girl from Donegal Mary Loughrey / Loughran. Her father was Cornelius Loughrey b Donegal about 1835 and his wife was Rose McGonigal. I have got nowhere with this line. I noticed you mentioned Coyle. When my grt grandparents married in Anderston, Glasgow their place of residence was with an Irish couple Manus Coyle and Helen Coyle who acted as witnesses at their R.C. wedding. Dve Smith. Hi Dave Yes, we probably have communicated before,anytime I see a McGonigal posting I always reply hoping for a link to Ireland for my McGonigals and Coyles Rose McGonigal ? I've seen that in my research somewhere,tell me more about her if you can. It's interesting how these names are coming together,maybe we'll find a connection later. I have something in common with your gr.grandfather,I married an Irish girl,Frances McGarvey from Ramelton in Donegal. Wish I could link to your Coyles but I haven't found Sarah Coyles death in Glasgow yet.Still looking ! I have Hugh McGonigals death Cert but there are no parents listed,all my hopes of tracing his birth in Ireland went down the drain with that discovery.
