Hello Sandra, To help you along I have looked at the townland valuations for Dungiven, town and Parish and the surrounding area . I have included the date of the VAL book in which each was found. Dennis Devlin Leckle Boveagh 1827 Edward Devlin Kilhoyle Balteagh 1828 James Devlin Drumsurn Upper Balteagh 1828 John Devlin Drumsurn Upper Balteagh 1828 M. Devlin Ballyquinn Balteagh 1828 P. Devlin Ballyquinn Balteagh 1828 William Devlin Drumrammer Drumachose 1826 >From the above it would seem that Balteagh is the place to look. It is the Parish adjoining Dungiven Parish and would be perhaps 5 miles from Dungiven Town going towards Limavady. The Devlin family rented their homes and small farms from the McCausland family of Fruithill,Limavady. These McCauslands are still living there today. The Church of Ireland Parish Records of baptism and marriage are as follows: Balteagh from 1835 Dungiven from 1845 Boveva from 1818 I wish you well in your research. Robert: So much thanks for doing this for us. I am immediately struck by the name "William Devlin, Drumrammer, Drumachose, 1826" That would fit perfectly with my ancestor William Devlin, born circa 1803 and father of James born May 17, 1830. By chance, if it is not too much trouble -- are there DOWNES on Valuation in Drumrammer, Drumachose. (This is the maiden name of William's wife, Elizabeth.) From your notes I can identify the Dennis, born c 1807 or Dennos, born c 1793; James, born c 1793; and Peter Devlin, born c 1795; and possibly M. Devlin as (matricarch?) Mollie, born c 1769 - all migrated to Quebec, Canada in 1833. Also, one of the the two leftover names: Edward excites me because our James (born 1830 above) named his first son Edward. And the other leftover being: James (matches son of William.) Of course, I realize this could all be coincidence as these given names for Devlins are very common, but the nearly "exact" fit seems to be very promising. How close is Drumrammer, Drumachose to Dungiven and/or Balteagh and Leckle ?
