Hello Diane. I have distant DRIPPS connections at or near the Ternageeragh / Tirnageeragh townland at Culnady / Upperlands -- quite close to Maghera in County Derry. As a gt-gt-gt-aunt married a DRIPPS, I do not have very much other than a couple of names, but I am happy to share them. Please let me know if they might help you. Ray, I saw that you mentioned the name Beare. My grandfather's tree mentions that a Betty Bear was married to one of our Stewarts, James. I have only been able to verify that James Stewart was married to a Betty Fulton in the 1st Kilrea Presbyterian Church records. Do you have any Stewart connections? They were from Killymuck, Tamlaght O'Crilly Parish, Derry. Thanks. Barb Ray <[email protected]> wrote: Hello Diane. Hello Barb. Sadly, in the few BEARE records which I have obtained, I do not have any record of a Betty BEAR(E) or of any other BEARE marrying a STEWART. However, as Kilrea and Tamlaght O'Crilly are both only a few miles from Culnady; I expect that there will be a connection. All the more so as "Betty" is usually an abbreviation for "Elizabeth" and every BEARE generation which I have, has an "Elizabeth" or a "Lizzie" in it. There was also another BEARE family in the area, at Knockloughrim near Castle Dawson; (and one of my Culnady BEARE females married into that BEARE family); so it is also possible that your Betty BEAR could be from that Castledawson line. Again, I suspect that both BEARE families were related -- but I just need a few more lifetimes to be able to do the research on it -- given that I have hardly ever met anyone else who is interested in this family name. My Culnady BEAREs also spawned a well-known Presbyterian Minister: the Reverend Thomas BEARE, who ended up at Ballymoney in County Antrim, where he left quite a few descendants; but most of them seem to have stayed near that area, or went to Belfast. Thanks for the note, if you should ever find more info., I should love to have it please. Likewise, if you desire further details from me on my BEAREs, I am happy to share what I have. On a slightly different note: one of my BEARE ancestresses was born a BOYLE; and her grandparents are given as David BOYLE (of Dungiven, co Derry, I believe), who married a "Miss STEWART". Sadly again, no other details are given, so that I do not even know Miss STEWART's first name! Nor do I have any dates for this -- but I am guessing that it might have been around the early to mid 1700s. One day I'll get to inspect surviving Dungiven parish registers and hope to find some of these events with more information including dates -- another one for the "to do" file! Happy Hunting! ray ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barb" <[email protected]> > I saw that you mentioned the name Beare.
