Listers, I'm coming to N. Ireland in a week and even though I have the address of the Derry Center on Shipquay Street, I would appreciate someone helping me with some directions on how to get there from the main roads. I've gotten lost in Derry before... Also, has anyone had experience with ordering a record from the CSI index online? I need just one record and can't afford to pay for an entire study, as I had that very center do so a few years ago..can I pay for just one record? Thank you for you help Barb G.
The Derry Genealogy Centre is located in the Craft Village within the Walled City- enter the Craft Village on foot either from Magazine Street or Shipquay St. If you are coming to Derry by car, when you get near Derry follow the road signs for the City Centre and park in one of the city centre car parks outside the City Walls. The manager of the Derry Genealogy Centre is Brian Mitchell. Going the to the City Archives at the Harbour Museum, next to the Guildhall is also worthwhile. Bernadette Walsh is the City Archivist. The Ulster Scots Agency are organising a Foyle Festival 2007 6-10th August with talks including one by Dr William Roulston of the Ulster Historical Foundation in St Columb's Cathedral. As part of Irish Walled Towns Day a programme of cultural events is being organised for 26th of August so this will also be an ejoyable day to visit Derry.
