Christine You may also wish to contact the local Library and see if they have the publication - The Coleraine Chronicle, Births, marriages and deaths 1844-1869, David A Beck, 2003. I am not sure how wide an area it covered, but you may find the entry in that publication. There should be an copy in the Coleraine Library if you have their Email a address. Dear Linda, I am looking for the marriage of my John GODFREY, born 1837 in Londonderry. I don't know the wife's name, and she died before 1870 after giving birth to son James GODFREY. The time frame is correct for the London Sentinel collection, so if you could check at your leisure, I'd really appreciate your time. Thanks, Susi Godfrey ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
Checked both by names and date and nothing appears. However, many people did not put notices in the papers at that time. The Londonderry Sentinel, certainly at that time, covers a wide area from Derry (Donegal, Sligo, Tyrone, north Londonderry). The surname Witherow is quite common around Auglish, Feeny. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Christine Tregonning" <CJTregonning@xtra.co.nz> To: <> Sent: Friday, April 27, 2007 3:19 AM Subject: Re: [NIR-DERRY] Londonderry Sentinel > Thank you Linda for this information. > > You have probably been inundated with requests. Glad that the semple information is useful. Clare is a townland not a town. If you go to PRONI website (www.proni.gov.uk) and follow links to Parishes you will find maps of parish locations. There are actually 4 'Clares' in Co. Tyrone: Clare (Derryloran parish), Clare More (Clogher), Clare Upper (Ardstraw) & Claremore (Ardstraw). ----- Original Message ----- From: "virginia miller" <vjmill@telus.net> To: "Linda Gilmore" <home@lindagilmore.plus.com>; "derry" <> Sent: Friday, April 27, 2007 12:42 AM Subject: [-SPAM-] Re: [NIR-DERRY] William Semple > Thanks again. Thanks again. John Semple's second wife was supposed to have been the governess for his nieces. I think he was the second brother after William. Then came George, Robert and Charles. Do you know where "Clare" in Tyrone would have been? I couldn't find it as a town and thought it might have been a house or estate. Thanks again for your help, Virginia
