Robert: So much thanks for doing this for us. I am immediately struck by the name "William Devlin, Drumrammer, Drumachose, 1826" That would fit perfectly with my ancestor William Devlin, born circa 1803 and father of James born May 17, 1830. By chance, if it is not too much trouble -- are there DOWNES on Valuation in Drumrammer, Drumachose. (This is the maiden name of William's wife, Elizabeth.) From your notes I can identify the Dennis, born c 1807 or Dennos, born c 1793; James, born c 1793; and Peter Devlin, born c 1795; and possibly M. Devlin as (matricarch?) Mollie, born c 1769 - all migrated to Quebec, Canada in 1833. Also, one of the the two leftover names: Edward excites me because our James (born 1830 above) named his first son Edward. And the other leftover being: James (matches son of William.) Of course, I realize this could all be coincidence as these given names for Devlins are very common, but the nearly "exact" fit seems to be very promising. How close is Drumrammer, Drumachose to Dungiven and/or Balteagh and Leckle ? Dear folks, After dozens of years of searching, we believe we have finally found our homeland in Ireland - in Dungiven! This would be an especially poignant discovery at this time because my husband (whose ancestors these are) has been very ill this winter, having undergone removal of three malignant brain tumours in late January. His fervent dream is to find his origins in Ireland. So we are hoping that r old records exist and someone will be so very kind as to verify for us: Baptism of James Devlin, born May 17, 1830, son of William Devlin (also spelled Develin), born about 1803, and his wife Elizabeth Downes (also spelled Downs). and/or wedding (Church of Ireland) of William Devlin to Elizabeth Downes -- before 1830. William and Elizabeth (Downes) Devlin migrated to Quebec, Canada sometime before June 1835. He died in Quebec, Feb 14, 1838, age 35 years. With fingers crossed so hard, the white knuckles are showing, We await replies Sandra and Rod Devlin in Canada

Hi Betty... yes, I'm connected to your TAYLOR line as follows: Matthew Taylor...Janet Wilson (Londonderry, Ireland) I have them emigrated in 1722) Matthew and Janet Taylor are my 6th great grandparents. He died in Beaver Lake, New Hampshire, buried Forest Hill Cemetery, Derry, New Hampshire Eleanor Taylor...Samuel Archibald. Samuel was born in Londonderry, Ireland. Eleanor b. Nutby, New Hampshire. Both died in Truro, Nova Scotia David Archibald...Jane Miller (born New England and d. in Nova Scotia) Alexander Miller Archibald...Janet (Jannet) Clark (both Nova Scotia) William Clarke Archibald...Sarah Tate and on to the remaining generations ** I believe that your Matthew Taylor, b. 1727 was m. to Elizabeth Archibald who was my 5th great aunt, and dau of John Archibald. Then John Taylor, b. 1752 was m. to Nancy Archibald, dau of Samuel Archibald, my 5th great grandfather. Then your Ephraim Taylor m. Rachel Archibald, dau of Samuel. (whew). I don't have anything further on Ephraim. It appears that there is great interwining between our families. I'd enjoy corresponding. I'm planning a trip to Northern Ireland and Scotland in Sept. and plan to TRY to research these lines big time. my paul family came from a town called Tobermore in Co. Derry.
Hello [email protected] Have never seen the town of Tobermore come up before. So, on the off chance you may have come across any the of the names I am looking for or record sources in that area, I thought I would pass along the following. Isabella BRADLEY (nee WINDLE) was the mother of my maternal grandmother Jane TURNER (nee BRADLEY). Isabella was born in Ireland around 1860 and married William BRADLEY in November 1877 at Kilcronaghan Parish Church, County Derry in Northern Irealnd. My maternal grandmother was born near there at Tobermore June 18, 1879. Her family went to County Durham in northeastern England between 1881 and 1884. Believe Isabella had a brother Joseph C. WINDELL that came to Canada in 1879 at the age of 19 as a tailor and became a very successful businessman in Galt (now Cambridge) in southern Ontario. There is also another WINDELL cousin or brother I am trying to locate in eastern Ontario. Thanks in advance for anything you may have. Take care. Dear List, I am trying to locate where in County Derry my grandfather James Paul was born and who his father was. His mother was Margaret McConnell. James was born in 1816 and there were two known sisters; Rebecca born in 1819 and Catherine born in 1824. James came to America in 1836, either with the 2 sisters or sent for them later. Family lore says there were two brothers, Robert and George who remained in Ireland. James said he was born in Derry but we don't know if he meant the town or the county. Any clues or help would be greatly appreciated. Virginia in Wisconsin
