Ginny: I am glad to hear that you found your Great Grandparents gravesite (PATRICK AND MARGARET McKEEFRY ) at St. John's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Granahan, Parish of Killelagh, County Derry, Northern Ireland. I am still looking for the ancestors of JAMES DIAMOND and JANE McELDOWNEY who came from County Derry. They came to U.S. A. in 1826, and settled in Kingston, Ulster County, New York. My wife and I visited St. John's twice in past years, but couldn't find any old records except for the records I have on St. John's Cemetery. We did locate some death records and probate records at PRONI (Public Records Office of North Ireland) at Belfast, Northern Ireland. Best Regards, Jim Pearce Nuevo, Calif.

What happened to Eliza as I can not find any records for her between the two census. 2. According to my grandmother before she died she claims she came to new Zealand when she was 16 years old with a member of the new Zealand government which could fit in with her not being on the 1911 census however I have not found any record of departed for her from Ireland to new Zealand. 3. Is anyone out there related to any of the above still living that i can contact direct. Greatly appreciate any help Thanks Robyn New Zealand
On September 15, 2002 we were touring in Italy. While sitting at Rome's Fountain di Trevi, we encountered a lovely lady, Anna Dougherty (not sure of the spelling), from Northern Ireland. We recall that Anna was a little worried that she had lost touch with her travel companions. What a pleasant time we had, chatting with Anna, and what a coincidence to learn that her home is in Coleraine, the home town, we think, of my maternal great-Grandparents, DAVID JOHN OLIVER and ELIZA JANE MCNAUL who emigrated late 1880's to early 1990's. After a while, Anna's daughters came along to "rescue" Anna and we all enjoyed the Dougherty reunion. Anna was very much releived. As we said farewell we mentioned that perhaps the next time we meet it would would be in Coleraine as we hope to travel there some day. If any subscribers are acquainted with Anna, let her know that we think of her often and pray that she and her family are well and happy. We would also like to hear from anyone researching the names OLIVER or MCNAUL.
HI can anyone tell me is it possible for a husband in Glendermot/clondermot to take a wife who was born in Ballymoney Antrim as i am having trouble finding a birth record and have found one in Balleymoney Thanks Robyn New Zealand
It is indeed possible for this to happen, and also there is a small townland in Co Londonderry called Ballymonie somewhere near Claudy, just to add to the confusion. Another problem is if someone is born out of wedlock they might not be registered at all, as in the case of my fathers first wife. _________________________________________________________________ Sign-up for a FREE BT Broadband connection today! http://www.msn.co.uk/specials/btbroadband
JoAnn: This is Jim Pearce in Nuevo, Calif. I have checked my records for St. John's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Granaghan, Parish of Killelagh, County Derry, and don't find anyone with the name of Cassidy buried there. In my records there are 46 persons buried there with the name of Kearney. There are two William Kearneys buried there: One is a child of Joseph Kearney and Annie Kearney of Tirnoney, who died July 14th, 1985. The other William Kearney is as follows: "KEARNEY In loving memory of William Kearney died 25th June 1961 Aged 69 Years., His wife Mary Ann died 19 April 1980 Aged 86 Years Their son Francis died in Infancy and Daughter Mary Ann who died in Infancy R.I.P." I am still searching for information on my James Diamond of County Derry that married Jane McEldowney. They came to U.S. A. in 1826 and settled in Kingston, New York. I will keep in mind the fact that you have information from St. Trea's and St. Patricks, in the event I can find any connection to them. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Best Regards, Jim Pearce, Nuevo, Calif.

Researching Jane Macauley who married Daniel Galbraith 15/05/1857 in the registrars office Londonderry. On the marriage record her names spelt McColley and that's how she signed it. Jane gives her father as William McColley and Daniel gives his fathers name as Daniel. The licence states they were both of full age. They give there residence at the time of marriage ardlough parish. They had three children that I have found 1. Whether Daniel & Matilda had any others I am not sure. 2. William John Galbraith born 25 November 1868 Londonderry Don't Know anything else on William 3. G'day to all, I am researching the possibility that my ancestor may have been born in Northern Ireland before turning up in Scotland in the 1850s. Samuel ROSS had two children that came to New Zealand in the late 1860s Agnes born circa 1847 possibly at Lossiemouth Scotland, and Andrew ROSS born circa 1841. Andrew had also been a Coastguardsman or a member of the Royal Navy and collected a pension of £13 -12 shillings per annum, which was transferred to New Zealand and paid at Hokitika,Westland, quarterly. I am interested in hearing from anybody who has researched the surname ROSS and/ or Coastguard records in Northern Ireland. Regards Peter, in Timaru, South Island, New Zealand
Hello, If anyone is researching Hamilton Hutchison, Tully, Glendermot, or his family anytime prior to his death in 1826, I would be very pleased to hear from you. TIA Alice Cochrane.

As I suspected, both churches have hundreds of McKees listed on the birth registers. If she was from Bellaghy, then she perhaps went to St. Mary's church. With only having the name Mary McKee, it will be difficult. Kind of like me looking for Edward O'Neill in Derry, every other O'Neill is an Edward!! Jo-Ann
Hello All I am seeking any information concerning the family of JAMES BOWMAN of Aghagaskin, Parish of Magherafelt and who was there buried in November of 1872. James and his wife MARY McKEE had a family of five children: Eliza, James, Henry, David, John and Nancy. To my knowledge, only son David, my biological and maternal GGrandfather, emigrated to Canada and settled in Innisfil, Ontario. I have no other knowledge of Mary save that she was born in Northern Ireland. I'd welcome hearing from any members of this list who can assist my research. Thank You Ron Davies Surrey, BC Canada

1901 Census - Co. Monaghan 'Strays' in a census are those who are listed as living in one county and who were born in another - some may be heads of households - usually, I note the name, age and religion of the head of household if they were born in another county and do not take any of the info on any other member of the house - or else, if there are people living in a house whose surnaem differs from that of the Head of Household - be they relatives or servants/lodgers - I try to note the surname of the Head of household as well, but in some instances forget. Regardless, should you want to know any more information relating to any person I list their name will be found on the 1901 census under the townland somewhere. James, Thank you for the info. There is this link at Moyola Park , seems to be the family home , I wondered when they moved there ? The names ' Spencer Churchill ' are used , maybe a link to Winston Churchill ? When Lord Stephen A . Chichester died in London , UK in 1890 , his nephew Spencer was the Informant on the Death Cert. I am also interested in what school Lord Stephen attended . My interest : my gparents were house servants to Lord Stephen for abt 12 yrs in Jersey , Channel Islands and Southampton , then finally London . He seems to have been a good employer and dare I say it , a good friend. Thanks again , James. Nigel Smith . Southampton , Hampshire , UK . ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Dawson" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, May 17, 2003 3:08 AM Subject: RE: [Derry] LORD S. A.
