Surnames: McMinn Classification: lookup Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.arm.general/9267/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi. My name is Shane McMinn, a grandson of William Hamilton McMinn, born 14th April, 1910 in the County Armagh region of Northern Ireland. He died in 1986 in Queensland, Australia I believe he has or had relatives still living in both Northern Ireland and the US. He emigrated on assisted passage from Northern Ireland to work with relatives on a farm in Gladstone, Queensland before heading up to and living and working for the rest of his life in and around the sugarcane farming town of Tully in Far North Queensland. Any info from those parts of his family tree would be a great addition to mine and ongoing contact via letters, emails, etc would be a fantastic bonus as well. Cheers, Shane.
Shane Given his birth date, if he was still in Ireland when the 1911 census was taken, you might be able to find him and his parents somewhere in Armagh. I found my infant father in Kilkeel with his family. Unfortunately, the 1911 census is not yet on-line; I went through the original in Dublin a number of years ago. Good hunting.
