    3. Hi Sher. I have already found this info. My problem now is finding them in Ireland. My family lore says County Armagh and Scott's Corner. But the closest to Scott's Corner I've found is Scotch Corner in Monaghan. I've also found a few Branions and lots of Brannions and Branyans. But most of these are after the 1834 to 1844 period when I believe they left Ireland. I'm directly descended from the son John. I have pretty much all the descendents of both John and William. John Brannion (that's how it was spelled in the 1861 census) was a member of the Free Kirk and lived Lot 19 or 20 in Concession 9 of Darlington - up in the north end near Burketon, though Burketon wasn't there at that time. Sarah and Joseph were still at home at that time. I assist people with their Durham County roots, and if I can be of further assistance please let me know - my fees are modest at $12/hr - I can usually find quite a lot in 1 hour!! 3. Don: Because I've had call to study many of the families who came to this part of the province I know that there were many who came here from Monaghan and Tyrone in Ireland - not a lot from Armagh. Any who came from Armagh seemed to spend a few years near Montreal or that vicinity before coming up here. But those who came from Monaghan or Tyrone came directly here. The Scotch Corner you found could very well be the place. Check to see if there was a Presbyterian Church there (they were Free Kirk here, but I wonder if that was a North American happening? Part of the Presbyterian congregations broke away from the mother church because it was becoming too liberal for their liking - Auld Kirk was another name given to them - they liked the old ways) So check on the Presbyterian Church in the vicinity of Scotch Corner and then see if you can get a microfilm of their records - might be just what you need!!! Good Luck!! 3. Going through my files, I found a copy of the 1827 survey of CladyBEG. It has a large number of Vallellys enumerated, but no Branions or anything similar. I do see, however, that it also lists the divisions of CladyMORE, and one of them is also called Scotch Quarter. Scotch Quarter in Cladymore is even larger than in Cladybeg. I don't have a copy of the Cladymore section of the survey, but I would say that Cladymore is the best bet for where the Branions may have been. You might also take a look at the bog leases and maps on FHL film 258647. Even if he was not a tenant on a farm, he might still have had a bog lease.
