Good afternoon: In a recent look at the phone listing for Macklins in northern Ireland I saw only one Macklin family while the rest lived in and around Belfast. I'll take a look at the Creggan Historical Web site to see what else I can find. The Macklins initially came from the Ardcarne district [Strabane and Dunnamanagh] of Co Tyrone moved to Down and between them and the Macklins down into Monaghan they were primarily Presbyterian and Church of Ireland. The name Macklin was derived from the MacLochlainns of Enishowen. name change occurred in 1580-1590. From your notes it looks like the Creggan Macklins were primarily RC.
