I have been looking for any information on the family of Alexander GORDON and Mary LEE of Cooey, Tynan, Armagh. Their children were William, Jeannie (born abt 1877) and Mary Emily (born 10 June 1878). I believe that Alexander, Mary and Jeannie all died about 1894. Mary Emily moved to Australia and William stayed in Ireland. Mary Emily eventually ended up in the U.S. There was another GORDON family in Cooey, Tynan headed by Nixon GORDON and Sarah LYONS. They had children named Hugh (b: 1856), William (b: 1857), David Ferguson (b: 1862) and Elizabeth (b: 1864). The Hugh Loughead GORDON who died in 2003 and was buried from the Lislooney Presbyterian Church is a descendent of this family. I received a most wonderful reply from Rev. Maurice Stewart of the Presbyterian, Knappagh, Lislooney Congregations, with much information on this Nixon GORDON family, but there was nothing regarding my Alexander GORDON family. I then wrote to Rev William Barry Paine, Tynan questioning if the family of Alexander GORDON and Mary LEE were listed in his church records. Unfortunately, he did not reply. This was all in 2005, so I have rather given up on trying to find anything on MY Gordon family. I have run out of ideas to pursue.
