1. Travel Question - First week of April (E Macklin) Eric, The response from Pearl is technically correct in that the Northern Hemisphere global weather systems are west to east and rain will be deposited on the western side of hills or mountains leaving the eastern side drier. Statistics prove this principle. However, depending upon how much rain there is up there (the strength of the system) , it may also rain (softly, of course, in Ireland) on the eastern side. Those on that side get their gardens and crops watered too. It is the other way round for the Southern Hemisphere. I was an Armagh resident for some years and it does rain there too. The old saying of, "March winds and April showers bring forth May flowers" was indeed generally true but I suspect that global warming is changing the pattern as we don't necessarily see this distinction nowadays. Best wishes for your trip and "may the wind be always at your back". Howard. + -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
