If you order those records you should get his attestation papers, record of service, promotions and demotions, foreign service, physical description and (sometimes) when and where married. It will run about 8 pages or less. The index to the records indicate that he was born ca 1785 in Ematris Parish, Monaghan, that he joined the 11thFoot in 1807 and was discharged when the regiment was reduced in 1824. His pension was likely a penny per day--more if he had been wounded or had been an NCO on discharge. By the way, the General Service Medal was created in 1848 for vets of the Napoleonic Wars and issued in 1849. It was not issued posthumously and therefore we can assume that Foster was alive still in 1849. These medals were stamped with the soldier's name and regiment along the edge. There is a good chance that it is still out there somewhere. They sell for between $1000-$2500 depending on the regiment, the person and the bars.
